Online Relief Agency Donations

Donations of Clothing and Supplies at SBU

The University, in partnership with the Urban League of Long Island, is collaborating with UPS to provide free delivery of the basic supplies needed by shelters and care centers serving the victims of Katrina. 

Collection Points
The following campus collection points are in operation:
Interfaith Center, Stony Brook Union 201 or 265

  • Lobby - Stony Brook Union
  • Lobby - SAC
  • Interfaith Center, Stony Brook Union 201 or 265
  • Dean of Students Office, Student Activities Center 222
  • Indoor Sports Complex
  • Student Health Services
  • Student Accounts Office, Administration Bldg. 254
  • General Clinical Research Center, 12th floor, University Hospital (see the receptionist)

Campus Residences will be organizing collections in all residence halls.

The following items are needed:

  • Blankets and bedding (clean, no holes, no rips)
  • Bottled water
  • First Aid supplies
  • Gently used lightweight clothing (kids and adults; clean, no holes, no rips)
  • New underwear and new socks (kids and adults)
  • School supplies
  • Women's hygiene products
  • Deodorant, soap, shampoo, razors
  • Non-perishable food items (no glass, please)
  • Juice packs
  • Dry milk
  • Baby bottles
  • Diapers
  • Baby formula
  • Coloring books and crayons

Volunteering
Student, faculty, and staff volunteers are needed to help sort, box and label donations every Friday for pickup by UPS. Students interested in volunteering should sign up in Room 218 of the Student Activities Center or in the Office of the Dean of Students (SAC 222). Faculty and staff members should contact Maryann Bell ( 632-7107; Maryann.Bell@stonybrook.edu) or Al Jordan (444-2341; Aldustus.Jordan@stonybrook.edu).
