www.aa2sbu.org/aaezine : SBU AA E-Zine for Students and Alumni

www.aaezine.org : AA E-Zine for SBU Alumni, Faculty, Staff, BNL and LI Community

This is how SBU AA E-Zine usually looks: http://www.aa2sbu.org/aaezine/sb-index-vol-32-no-4.shtml. We've never done this before but there's a first for everything. In April the small staff of AA E-Zine / SBU AA E-Zine, in between classes, papers and exams, attended and photographed, videotaped, and/or wrote about over 30 events including Asian Game Night, ASA's Nations of Asia Gala, Bang On a Can All-Stars, BBG Sakura Matsuri, China Night, Chinese Brush Painting Workshop, DDKY Ulsoo, Erma's Wedding, Holi in Jasmine, Holi in Mendy Pit, Korean Tea Talk, Korean Night, Korean Studies Maija Rhee-Devine Lit Talk, Maria the Korean Bride, PUSOFest, Marvels and Monsters Symposium, Media Council Meeting, Miss Cutie Pi Contest, Roll with VSA, Sushi Night, Tao at Staller, TSA's Night Market, Uniti Cultural Center Reception, as well as an AA E-Zine/AAJ alumni wedding and ran the PH Tuan Wang Center photo contest which meant handing out and hanging up 1000 flyers. There was no time to get it all online because May has been worse. So rather than put out an issue, the upcoming events are available below, we'll update this daily, and then do a post-graduation issue with all the news combined.

SAVE THE WANG CENTER NEWS
UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES DESTRUCTION OF WANG CENTER GARDENS AND VIEW OF PAGODA TOWER BEGINS JUNE 2014

 SBU Imperial President Delusional
We defy Stanley to stand in front of the
shortest of the 6 Wang AAC light towers on
the far right in the drawing below, holding
that KSQ drawing he claims is accurate, and
publicly say it is correct even though it
shows the 3-story light tower as the same
height as the proposed 6-story Toll Drive
dorms! Another KSQ drawing falsely minimizes the dorms impact on the garden
by making them look 4 stories. So why
should anyone believe any KSQ drawings
that show these 'dwarf' dorms not effecting
the iconic pagoda tower atop Wang? If
Stanley were honest, he would have an
impartial 3rd party architect, one all could
agree on, make accurate drawings.
What is Stanley afraid of? The truth?
Update: We came up with the perfect
architect to provide correct drawings -
the world famous John Belle of Beyer,
Blinder and Belle! He won the nation's
highest honor for an architect, the Presidential Design Award, for the
renovations of Grand Central Station and Ellis Island, and he also designed SBU's
Academic Mall. Everyone respects Belle!

 STANLEY STILL LYING,
STILL NOT RESPONDING
Stanley's Scorecard:
Trees 1, Asians 0

Is this what "almost no effect" means to Stanley: Will sitting in the serene Suzhou style scholar's garden and looking up at trees and sky be the same as looking at
brick walls towering overhead, listening to
a cacophony of music blaring? Never again being able to open the theatre curtain to reveal the Japanese Noh-style effect of the outside being one with the inside through the two 8-sided windows? Will driving onto campus or looking down from the Academic Mall and seeing the iconic pagoda tower, now alone against the blue sky, be the same when its bottom half is backed by brick walls, at night the dorm lights switching on and off?

All we ask is that Stanley give logical
reasons why the Asian campus community
does not matter to him. Why he is willing to
the destroy the beauty of the $55 million gift
celebrating Asian heritage when there is lots
of room for dorms elsewhere. (With room for
new parking too!) Why he does not have the
common courtesy to respond to students,
alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the
community who have asked him why. Does
he truly believe the two-minute walk closer
to the Academic Mall between Toll Drive
dorms and LaValle Stadium dorms is worth
screwing up the Wang AAC? Please tell us
Sam. Please justify what you are doing.
Tennis Courts 1, Asians 0
Since the high temp steam pipes needed
to build any large building on campus are
already in place by the tennis courts on the
other side of the same parking lot , why
can't there be stadium dorms there like the
popular ones at UT Austin and the tennis
courts moved. The tenni
s court space was
originally offered to Charles Wang so if it
was good enough for the Wang AAC then,
why isn't it good e
nough for dorms now?

Drawing above, also by KSQ but prior to
when any objections were raised about the
effect on Wang, more accurately shows the
new dorms towering over the Wang Center.
